No Offense: Georgetown, You’re Doing It Wrong

Georgetown basketball has a distinguished tradition, but in the last few years, games like tonight’s loss have been all too familiar. Mind-numbing offense, bogged down with schematics and giving the other team more opportunities than they should. Just like that, they lose to far inferior opponents, and fans shake their heads.

↵Tonight it was Old Dominion who beat the no. 11 Hoyas, 61-57. And you can’t help but wonder about Hoya coach John Thompson’s Princeton offense. It’s the elephant in the room for Hoya fans.

↵Everyone seems to enjoy Thompson personally, and he’s managed to do a decent job recruiting, but... that damn offense. The whole country looks at Georgetown’s roster and sees talent, and yet, at least over the past two years, they’ve been massively underwhelming. They have the pieces in place to be dominant, but it’s become a popular refrain among college basketball fans: “I don’t know about their offense.”

↵It’s not fun to watch, and look at tonight. It’s not that successful.
