It is now confirmed that the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title will be up for grabs in January:
Nick Diaz v. Marius Zaromskis For Strikeforce Welterweight Title in January
MMAWeekly.com has learned that Nick Diaz and Marius Zaromskis have verbally agreed to a welterweight battle in the Jan. 30 event’s top slot, set for the BankAtlantic Arena in Sunrise, Fla. The two will fight for the promotion’s vacant welterweight belt.
Zaromskis has brought back memories of the glory days of Cro Cop, having won his last three fights via head kick. This is a very large leap in competition for Marius as Diaz is a veteran who is on quite the roll of his own.
Of course, there are always questions of if Diaz will get in the cage with his history of marijuana use and statements that he has no plans on stopping his usage any time soon.
If the fight does happen though, it will be one of the most relevant fights the promotion can put on and could signal that Zaromskis is for real.
