The former Elite XC lightweight champion has signed a deal with Strikeforce:
KJ Noons Inks Strikeforce Contract
K.J. Noons has signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce, Sherdog.com has learned from sources familiar with the negotiations.
The former EliteXC champion could make his lightweight debut for the promotion at Strikeforce “Evolution” on Dec. 19 in San Jose, Calif., although Noons’ return is likely for Strikeforce’s Jan. 30 event in Sunrise, Fla.
Noons had previously spent a lot of time talking about wanting to be a champion in both boxing and MMA. The boxing side of things hasn’t worked out so well however as Noons dropped a fight to James Countryman in his biggest step up.
His boxing skills translate well into the MMA game and it will be interesting to see how well he is able to do in the relatively competitive Strikeforce 155 pound division.
