While I was watching the Diamond Head Classic Tuesday afternoon, this little nugget came up on Twitter from erstwhile ESPN commentator Jimmy Dykes.

↵↵Upset alert for all teams the next 24 hours. If u r looking forward to Christmas break more than your next game, u r in trouble
↵↵So far this evening, I’ve seen quite a few ranked teams struggle through at least a sizable chunk of their final game before holidays, meaning they must not have seen Dykes’ words of wisdom. Here are four examples.
- ↵↵No. 11 UConn was tied with Maine at halftime, just days after they struggled with UCF.
- ↵Indiana got far behind Loyola (MD), clawed back, but still fell in Assembly Hall, 72-67.
- ↵No. 20 Butler fell 10 behind at the half at UAB (who, admittedly, is pretty damn good), and that ended up being the final margin of the Blazers’ win.
- ↵And 18th-ranked Florida lost their third straight, falling 67-66 to South Alabama in Gainesville.
↵↵Top-ranked Kansas’ game with an underachieving Cal team just started. Jayhawks, you’re on notice.
