Jared Dudley Shoots Threes Well, Doesn’t Ever Dunk. Am I Reading That Correctly?

Suppose I asked you to list the first words that come to mind when you think of the Phoenix Suns’ Jared Dudley. You’d probably rattle off terms like scrappy, athlete, tenacious, fast, bulldog, dunker. You’d probably look at him and say “Damn, that guy could probably jam with the best of them.”

↵Okay, maybe you wouldn’t go that far. But would you believe it if you were told that Dudley is leading the entire NBA in three-point percentage, hitting nearly 51 percent of his attempts? Probably not.

↵You know what’s more amazing, though? Dudley has just one in-game dunk this year. Apparently, his Suns teammates saw this coming, because according to Bright Side of the Sun, SB Nation’s Suns blog, they made him a bet that he wouldn’t get more than two dunks all season. Not in a game, not in a month, not in the first half of the season. The entire season.

↵↵“The bet is over/under can I get more than two dunks,” said Jared. “In 82 games I’m going to get two dunks so that’s why I started laughing at them.” And by them he means his teammates on the bench after he jammed home a wide open dunk after getting a feed from Nash while streaking in from the wing [in the Suns’ win over the Lakers].

↵↵I’m personally rooting for Dudley to get there. Why? Because as much fun as it is to see him launch threes at an incredibly proficient rate, imagine the Twitter possibilities if Dudley does indeed exceed two dunks? Dudley’s the most active Tweeter on the most active Tweeting team in the league. The ribbing of his teammates could reach all-time highs.
