Texas Tech Stuns No. 12 Washington In Overtime

Lubbock, TX (Sports Network) - John Roberson scored a team-high 25 points and dished out seven assists, as Texas Tech edged 12th-ranked Washington, 99- 92, in overtime in the Big 12/Pac-10 Hardwood Series.

Brad Reese finished with 17 points, while Mike Singletary had 16 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out for Texas Tech (8-0), which appeared to win the game on a jumper by Singletary in the final second of regulation.

However, after the officials gathered to review the video on a courtside monitor, the shot was waved off when it clearly showed the ball had not left his hand before time expired and the game moved into the extra period after celebrating fans were cleared off the court.

Quincy Pondexter led all scorers with 31 points and Isaiah Thomas had 18 for Washington (5-1), which was coming off a 63-59 win over Montana on Sunday. Elston Turner ended with 15 points.

Washington forged ahead 88-87 after Matthew Bryan-Amaning made a pair of free throws with just under two minutes remaining in OT, but Singletary's jumper put Texas Tech back in front by a point and it would never relinquish the lead.

Pondexter made 1-of-2 from the line on the Huskies' next trip, but Nick Okorie and Roberson followed with layups on the Red Raiders' next two possessions to go up 93-89 with under a minute left and they would prevail in the final seconds.

Texas Tech led 50-41 at the half and it would maintain a slim advantage for the early portion of the stanza. However, Darnell Gant would cap a 10-2 Huskies run to even the game at 60-all nearly 6 1/2 minutes in.

Things were tight down the stretch and each team took turns with the lead, but Turner was fouled, then missed both from the line with the game knotted at 80-80 with five ticks left.

Singletary then grabbed the rebound and raced the length of the floor and let go a shot from the right side that was originally counted until replay showed otherwise.

In an evenly played contest in the early going, Washington went up 30-29 with just over seven minutes left in the first half, but Okorie tied things with a 1-of-2 effort from the free-throw line. Reese then made a layup and hit from beyond the arc to put Texas Tech ahead by five and the Red Raiders led by nine at the break.

Despite the loss, Washington still owns a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series with Texas Tech...Okorie finished with 10 points.
