Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Martin Brodeur posted the 105th shutout of his career against the same team he broke the record against, as his 32-save performance helped New Jersey take a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh.

On December 21, Brodeur led the Devils to a 4-0 victory over the Penguins to record the 104th shutout of his career and take over first place in that category from Terry Sawchuk.

Niclas Bergfors and Jamie Langenbrunner each had a goal for the Devils, who have won seven of their last eight.

Brent Johnson was sharp in net, as he stopped 31-of-32 shots, but it was not enough as the Penguins lost for the fourth time in their past five games.

The Devils took a 1-0 lead just 1:48 into the game as Bergfors threw a shot on net from the right boards that sneaked past Johnson.

Brodeur stopped all nine shots he faced in the first period. The middle stanza was scoreless as Brodeur turned aside 14 shots while Johnson made 11 saves.

New Jersey had a 5-on-3 power play in the third period, but was unable to pad its advantage.

Travis Zajac was called for holding with 1:26 to play, and removing Johnson from net gave the Pens a 6-on-4, but they were unable to net the equalizer. Langenbrunner’s empty-netter sealed the win.

Pittsburgh plays at Tampa on Saturday...New Jersey plays in Chicago on Thursday...Brodeur has four shutouts this season and seven in his career against Pittsburgh...Neither team scored on the power play with Pittsburgh having one chance and New Jersey four.
