The New Year’s Eve mini-marathon closes with three evening tips, but trust me, you’ll probably only want to watch two of them.
New Year’s Eve Hoops Night Shift: Two Of These Three Should Be Good
- The first game of the night is one of the biggest RPI mismatches ever to appear on national TV. Seventh-ranked Duke is currently second in StatSheet's version of the ranking. Their opponent tonight, winless Penn, is third from the bottom. My advice to you, go out and have a nice dinner. Or, watch some Pac 10 action.
- Be sure you get back at 8 p.m. Eastern for what should be a great Big East tilt. Norm Roberts' St. John's Red Storm heads to the Nation's Capital to take on 13th-ranked Georgetown. The Johnnies' lost to Duke by 9 and already own wins against Siena and No. 18 Temple. Greg Monroe, Chris Wright and co. should be up for the challenge. SB Nation's Georgetown site, Casual Hoya, will have full coverage of this one.
- Underachieving Oklahoma travels to Gonzaga for the final game of the calendar year. The Bulldogs' Matt Bouldin and Sooners' Willie Warren will battle in the backcourt, while OU's Tiny Gallon will test the Zags' Robert Sacre inside. Visit our Sooner blog, Crimson And Cream Machine, and Bulldogs' blog, The Slipper Still Fits, for more on this matchup.
