Is poker a sport? Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh [350 more ‘h’s] ...kind of? It’s a competition that does require physical ability -- the ability to delicately compose every muscle in one’s body to avoid a tell -- and it’s on ESPN, so we’ll run with it.
Phil Ivey Will Have You Know That This Apple Is Delicious
↵The 2009 World Series of Poker’s final table was actually held a few weeks ago, but one moment in particular deserves attention. Here is Phil Ivey, arguably the world’s best poker player, going all in against Darvin Moon, an amateur player who had never flown on a commercial airplane until just prior to the event. Moon calls Ivey’s all-in bet, the cards are turned over, and Moon looks like he’s viewing the face of God for the first time.

↵And Ivey, with $6.5 million on the line, reacts by...eating an apple. To his credit, he seems to have acquired quite a tasty apple, and nothing will thwart his enjoyment of it. Not even an unlucky beat -- Moon hits a Queen, and that’s that. After which, Ivey continues to munch on his apple, looking like he’s manning a toll booth in Montana at four in the morning. Apples are delicious and Phil Ivey is awesome.
