The London Olympics may be sponsored by McDonald’s and Coca-Cola, but that doesn’t mean the locals aren’t going to get in on the fun; London 2012 is promising to maintain a high rate of British food in the Olympic village. Mmm. British food:

↵↵London 2012 said while 20% of food would be supplied by sponsors McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and Cadbury a wide choice of food would be available. Chief executive Paul Deighton said the Games would create a “great legacy for the catering industry in this country”.
↵↵London brass is worried that the junk-foody sponsors of the games -- McDonald’s, Coke, and Cadbury -- will give the wrong impression to kids, which is not all that different from any athlete that’s ever endorsed a soda or a fast food joint, but it’s admirable all the same. What’s not so admirable? That British food is filling in the gaps. Of the 200 Olympic athletes polled in an entirely make-believe poll I just invented in my head, over 185 said they’d prefer to recreate the movie “Super Size Me” before every competition before they’d gargle down another bland Sunday roast platter. And really, who can blame them? British food is terrible.
