On Monday, baseball’s Veterans Committee voted into the Hall of Fame former Cardinals manager Whitey Herzog and former umpire Doug Harvey.
Manager Herzog, Umpire Harvey Elected To Baseball Hall Of Fame
Herzog, a six-time division winner and manager of the 1982 World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals, and Doug Harvey, a five-time World Series umpire, were elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veterans Committee for Managers and Umpires, it was announced on Monday.
Harvey received 15 of a possible 16 votes. Herzog received 14 votes and longtime Pirates manager Danny Murtaugh received eight.
The announcement came on the first day of MLB’s Winter Meetings, which are being held in Indianapolis and conclude Thursday.
