The father of Florida junior strong safety Ahmad Black said his son is likely to enter the NFL Draft following the Sugar Bowl.
Florida safety Ahmad Black likely jumping to NFL
Talking to Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun, Bruce Black said with 90 percent certainty that his son would go pro. The reason for it stems from Gators coach Urban Meyer not starting Black the first game of the season.
“I would let Ahmad stay if they would show him some respect,” Bruce Black said. “I don’t think coach Urban Meyer respects my son.”
Yikes.
Black finished second in tackles for the Gators with 65. He also had 2.5 tackles for a loss, a sack and an interception.
At 5-foot-9 and 185 pounds, Black lacks the size typically required of a front line safety prospect. Black didn’t start the first game of the season in favor of sophomore Will Hill, a player with first-round potential. Black looks to be a fourth-round player, at best.
But Bruce Black wasn’t only talking about his son turning pro. He also said it was likely that offensive linemen Maurkice and Mike Pouncey will leave Florida early. So would junior running back Chris Rainey.
