SB Nation Writers Mock Draft: Round 2, Pick #41
After selecting Everette Brown to kick start a transition to the 3-4, Brandon from Acme Packing Company is in a position to seemingly draft the best player available.
This isn't a need area for the Packers, with tight end Donald Lee settled in as the starter and tight end Jermichael Finley drafted in the third round last season, but Mike McCarthy loves big receivers and there isn't a bigger receiver in the draft then Pettigrew.
The tight end can also play the roll of a full back in the Packers offense, so there could be opportunities for all of them as McCarthy tinkers with his schemes. The first big contract ever handed out by general manager Ted Thompson was a seven-year deal to tight end Bubba Franks, who immediately threw his career on the scrap heap after he signed it. Drafting Pettigrew might be his chance to finally get the performance he was expecting out of Franks.
MTD thoughts: Should this end up being the pick, it would likely shift the focus of Green Bay's offense. It would be even more predicated on short throws and a strong running game. All things considered, that just might be what's best for Aaron Rodgers.
