Invading S.F. as Part of Pacquiao’s Entourage

There was absolutely no way, I realized early this morning, to capture exactly how bizarre my experience was following Manny Pacquiao around at AT&T Park last night before he threw out the first pitch of a Giants/Padres game that also was billed Filipino Heritage Night. ↵↵So I attempted to put together a little video of the event, all of which I shot on my Flip while somehow managing to perpetrate myself as a member of Pacquiao’s entourage throughout the pre-game ceremonies. ↵
↵↵The video, I’m afraid, is not exactly the Wide World of Sports. But I did my best. I was everywhere with Pac Man last night, often walking right beside him and his trainer, Freddie Roach amidst the adoring throngs that seem to trail Pacquiao everywhere he goes now. ↵
↵↵Walking onto the field with the crowd going berserk around us, I asked Freddie if he and Manny had found any time to work on his fastball. “Not so much,” he said. ↵
↵↵The point was plain, and one that maybe I should have taken for myself. Manny is a boxer, not a pitcher. I am a writer, not a director. Or an editor, as you will soon find out. So forgive this indulgence, and I will get back to the making pictures with words post haste. Roll the tape ... ↵
