Will the Redskins be forced to draft a quarterback in 2010?

Campbell_mediumWashington Redskins starting quarterback Jason Campbell is not happy, and justifiably so.

A month ago, Washington made a strong play for Jay Cutler and didn’t succeed. Campbell wasn’t too happy about the trade attempt. Campbell met with head coach Jim Zorn, front office head man Vinny Cerrato and owner Dan Snyder.

All were reportedly on the same page with Campbell being the starter.

Then, Snyder fell in love with Mark Sanchez. This caused Campbell to announce he would request a trade if Sanchez was selected. Still, Washington continued to seek a trade to get into the top part of the draft over the weekend.

While Washington didn’t successfully complete a trade for a quarterback, the team clearly has no confidence in Campbell.

Still, he put on a good face for reporters yesterday.

“Once you get to this point, it’s all about putting everything else aside and just going out there to be the type of leader your coaches and teammates expect you to be,” Campbell said. “I’m the quarterback of this team, I know Coach Zorn and the whole coaching staff is counting on me.”

Washington was likely after a quarterback becasue Campbell, the 25th pick of the 2005 draft, has largely been average his whole career. While he showed promise last season, throwing for more than 3,000 yards, he only had 13 touchdown passes. He is also entering the final year of his rookie contract.

That, coupled with the trade talks, gives reason to believe Washington could go after a quarterback in the draft next year. Ironicaly, this could mean Sam Bradford, a member of the Cherokee Nation, could become a Redskin.

Just what would be the reaction to that?
