Ron Artest, Warrior of the Mind
↵
↵Here is why Ron Artest is so important to the universe:
↵
↵One, he knows that saying Brandon Roy is better than Kobe or LeBron (about 20 seconds in) will get him in the news cycle, as well as add to his reputation as just a little crazy. Artest’s respectable again, but a little edge never hurt, whether it comes to opponents or fans.
↵
↵Two, he’s smart enough to recognize that, as long as he rolls his eyes and looks at the ceiling when he confirms it, it’s a great in-joke for those who give him the benefit of the doubt.
↵
↵And three, this statement will hound Roy just like Artest aims to, some veteran psy-ops thrown at the youngster, the very opposite of bulletin board material. Will it make a difference? Probably not. But anyone looking to dismiss Ron Ron as a fool right here is actually the stupid one. The greatest trick the devil ever played was convincing us that he didn’t exist ... errr, that he was a total moron.↵
↵
↵Plus, dudes, LeBron’s a small forward, and Artest clearly stipulates “shooting guard.” And his relationship with Kobe is a world unto itself, one vast enough to contain both fawning sit-down interviews and some nearly explosive trash-talking confrontations. Try and figure that one out at your own peril.↵
