Mark Cuban vs. Kenyon Martin’s Mom, Round 2

Not like it’s news that Mark Cuban is yelling at someone, or annoying someone to the point of getting yelled at. Even when the other party involved is a player’s mom. In a situation like the simmering chaos that followed this weekend’s controversial Dallas loss? It’s a no-brainer. From The Denver Post:↵↵⇥During the postgame chaos after Saturday’s Nuggets-Mavericks game, Dallas owner Mark Cuban had a brief but heated confrontation with Lydia Moore, the mother of Denver’s Kenyon Martin, who was seated near the tunnel that leads to the Mavs’ locker room.↵⇥
↵⇥
↵⇥Cuban said Sunday by e-mail that when he walked off the court, a fan was screaming about the Nuggets being “thugs,” so Cuban said to Martin’s mother: “That includes your son.”↵↵
Color me unmoved, or even stimulated by the news that the league’s looking into Cuban’s conduct. But what abut this awesome reminder of just how serious NBA moms can get, or something about like mother, like son -- right around a certain holiday, no less. Hang onto your chromosomes:↵↵⇥Cuban said by e-mail he knew Martin’s mother, because after a previous game that Denver won, she had approached him and made trash-talk-type comments. Martin is a Dallas native and has been clutch in this postseason for Denver, notably on defense, where coach George Karl praises him as one of the NBA’s top overall defenders.↵↵How can you not be sympathetic to Cuban here? After a game, this woman who sired such a beast on the court, came up to him and spewed venom. Why would he not be looking for a little payback? Or at least be stirred to impropriety by the mere sight of her? I think we don’t appreciate the pressures this Cuban fellow confronts on a daily basis, what obstacles throw themselves in his path, or what drastic measures he must go to in order to keep his pride and power intact. Miss Moore, get out the way when you see Mark Cuban bearing down.↵
