Beware the Ron-Ron

↵Game 7s have that magical quality we constantly seek in sports: anything can happen. I think much of the debate over the NCAA’s one-and-done format versus the best-of-7 style of the NBA (as well as MLB and the NHL) is that college gives you more frequent opportunity for these mad, shocking results while the NBA versions tend to be massive climaxes, final flourishes to a long crescendo.

↵That’s what we have today in L.A. and Boston. No one will be surprised with either result at the Garden -- Orlando has better talent, but Boston has a remarkably strong team dynamic and home court advantage. But the Lakers are decisive favorites over Houston, understandably so. That yanks hard on the beauty of “any given Sunday” -- things fall right, and L.A. is sunk.

His offense has been just brutal since Yao Ming fell. But Ron-Ron was sneaky good on offense all year, and has been known to have outlandish games. I mean, he shot 40% from three this season. And he took a ton of threes. No one hits stupid shots quite like Ron, and the Lakers should be deeply afraid today will be one of those days.↵
