Game 7 Has a (Much Less Handsome) Friend

The incredible Bulls-Celtics series has spoiled us enough to shroud the lack of dramatic quality featured in the other first-round match-ups. We had one sweep, three 4-1 finishes and two anticlimactic six-game series. I suppose Chicago and Boston cornered the market on gasps. But wait! we will have another Game 7 this weekend. A Game 7 to end a completely forgettable series.

↵Miami beat Atlanta on Friday night to set up a Sunday finale. Perhaps Game 7 will be fully entertaining -- heck, after the first six games of Bulls-Celtics, the entire world expects let-down Saturday night. Maybe Miami-Atlanta will have the reverse going for it. But really, a series that had so much promise has really been a drag.

↵Three of the six games have finished with margins of at least 20 points. Two others had 15-point margins, and one finished with a 10-point spread. No game has been remotely close in the closing minutes. The only drama has come from flagrant foul calls (oh joy!) and Josh Smith’s garbage time dunks. Well ... OK. Dwyane Wade’s violent ballet act has been pretty choice, too.
