Boston’s Secret (8-Year-Old) Weapon Gets Paid

Eddie House does three things for Boston: crazy shooting off the bench (as evidenced by his 16 points off the bench in a Game 7 win for the Celtics), an endless well of puns for headline writers, and a kid that might be the spiritual spawn of a leprechaun. Jaelen House, age 8, hung out on the baseline at every home playoff game last year. If you’ll recall, Boston did pretty well at home in the playoffs.

↵Jaelen was back this year, matching Kevin Garnett’s every scowl, trading war stories with Starbury and fist-bumping Big Baby. And it sounds like he earned his dad’s playoff share. And to top it off, he also got to see his dad rediscover his shooting stroke.↵↵As a former 8-year-old, I can assure you dad’s shooting was a clear 1b in terms of prioritized celebration. Saturday was Jaelen’s birthday; I assume that’s what earned the greenbacks, and not a Derby pool or something. Jaelen will be back in action Monday, when the Celtics host the Magic.
