What a debut for young Jozy Altidore, who finally arrived at Hull City on Friday after a frustrating series of delays (including a delay due to swine flu concerns, according to some reports.) Well, phooey on the H1N1, as the 19-year-old got into a scoreless match against Bolton and almost immediately helped arrange a goal. He came close to scoring on two other occasions as Hull managed a big 1-0 result over Bolton.

Sky Sports rated Clint Dempsey a 6 as the U.S. midfielder went all 90 in a 2-0 loss to Chelsea. Benny Feilhaber’s career rebirth continued as he played 71 minutes for Aarhus in a 2-2 draw in Denmark. Charlie Davies played 70 minutes for Sochaux in France but couldn’t follow up on last week’s sizzling show, as his Ligue 1 side fell 2-0.

Michael Bradley was subtracted at halftime of Moenchengladbach's 3-0 loss at Werder Bremen. Ouch. Among the prominent U.S. players who dressed but didn’t get into a match: Oguchi Onyewu at AC Milan, Marcus Hahnemann for Wolves, Jose Francisco Torres for Pachuca and DaMarcus Beasley for Rangers.

Jonathan Spector was in West Ham’s first 11 in a 2-1 loss to Spurs. Otherwise, most of the usual U.S. suspects in defense held their places in the lineup, including Jay DeMerit at Watford, Carlos Bocanegra at Rennes, Michael Parkhurst at Nordsjaelland in Denmark, Steve Cherundolo at Hanover in the Bundesliga, Clarence Goodson at IK Start in Norway, Michael Orozco at San Luis and Edgar Castillo at Tigres.

Eddie Johnson wasn’t in the Fulham 18. So what else is new? Finally, Kenny Cooper and 1860 Munich play on Monday.
