Last year in Montreal was the first time a NASCAR race was run in the rain and now this year in Montreal it was the first time a NASCAR qualifying session was run in the rain.
Some Things Go Hand In Hand Like Montreal and Rain
Good call or bad call?
I think it was a good call for both fans and drivers.
Being a fan caught in the rain at a track only to have the race cancelled was a bummer and if I had made my way to Montreal this year I would have expected qualifying to be run even if it were raining. I mean after all they did run a race in the rain last year and the precedent was set.
... more after the jump ...
From a driver’s perspective I’d want a chance to qualify my ride especially if I were one of the go or go homer drivers.
Most drivers were happy with NASCAR’s decision but the ever quotable Kyle Busch didn’t seem too happy about it stating, “It’s not too much fun. These cars aren’t made for this, so it’s just a fiasco. We’re making the best of what we got. I had windshield-wiper problems, defogger problems, staying-on-course problems – it’s problems overall.”
Hmm ... let me see ... where exactly did he qualify anyway? Hmm ... here it is ... 12th! Not bad, but with Kyle being Kyle I’d expect him to have said what he said regardless if he qualified on the pole or at the tail end of the field or exactly where he did.
Can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow!
