NASCAR, Hamlin wins at Pocono -- shows up MattHaggard
NASCAR is never far from my ire on any given weekend due to its insistence on giving me a bad quality of racing for my hard-earned buck and precious time. So how ironic is it that NASCAR places itself back in my good graces by putting-on its best non-plate race of the year on a Monday?
To Helton, Pemberton and France: we’re cool. We’ll just call the past two weeks a wash, a blank slate – tabula rasa. It is now on you guys to keep up the good mojo through Watkins Glen and the rest of the Race to the Chase.

So how exciting was that?! NASCAR brought a can’t miss package to the usually mediocre Pocono and there was passing and excitement at every corner as a result. The restarts more resembled restrictor plate tracks than the follow-the-leader circuit that we’re usually privy to on any given weekend. We went without a green flag lull and even caught a glimpse of NASCAR’s newest feud -- an in-race tussle between Robby Gordon and David Stremme.
When it was all said and done, Denny Hamlin took home the checkered flag, winning on the Monday after his grandmother’s passing over the weekend in
How touching was that post-race interview? Sometimes it is the words that people can not say that speaks the most volume. Your heart really has to reach out to the guy and I want to be amongst the first in the blogosphere to congratulate him. Try to enjoy it Denny.
In conclusion, NASCAR (and Juan Pablo, BTW) received the bounce back week that it needed after
Onwards to the Glen.
