John Calipari’s positive Energy

In today’s Boston Globe, Dan Shaugnessy—who looks a little bit like Phil Spector—was indignant over UMass’ decision to host a banquet in former-coach John Calipari’s honor. And with good reason: Calipari left the UMass program in shambles and on probation when he left to coach in the NBA.

↵Now, he’s back where he began, coaching in college. Via Sports Radio Interviews, Calipari talks about the Derrick Rose situation and his past mistakes:

↵↵No question those are black marks and I’m really disappointed, I wish that rules were changed, they were changed five years later with the Camby stuff. The rules were changed so those games wouldn’t have been vacated five years later. Back then it was even hard and fast… I’ve gotta stay positive, and I gotta look forward.

Yeah, the NCAA with all those “hard and fast” rules… Like not having someone take an SAT for one of your recruits. Way to stay positive, John. Keep looking forward.
