Vescey Might Want to Sit a Few Plays Out

His Airness is finally taking his place among the pantheon of basketball legends in Springfield. What better excuse for NBA fans to reminisce about the league’s golden era during the ‘80s and ‘90s (and no, I do not feel old writing that) when the players were allowed to play, the refs weren’t fixing the games, and Jordan was ripping opponents’ hearts out on a nightly basis. What could ruin this?

↵Um, how about Peter Vecsey. In a wildly entertaining/confusing trainwreck of a speech, the New York Post hoops reporter best known for his bitterly sarcastic style rambled incoherently well beyond his allotted time, leading MJ himself to walk out. Yes - Jordan left his own Hall of Fame festivities. Jeff Pearlman picks up the pieces:

↵↵The best part came, oh, 30 minutes in, when Vescey took a breather between points. As if on cue, the entire room started to applaud-a very clear, very audible get-the-f^%$-off-the-stage command. Suddenly, music piped in from above-yet another get-the-f^%$-off-the-stage command. Oddly, Vescey really paid it no mind.

↵↵Brilliant. Luckily for Ernie Johnson, Vecsey’s abomination of a speech overshadowed his own error-ridden introduction of longtime Jazz coach Jerry Sloan. There are at least three mistakes here. See if you can find them all (answers here).
