Daily Soccer Fix laments the near-omnipresence of American football hash marks on soccer fields. I empathize. Unfortunately, this is the way things will work as long as football’s popularity dwarfs soccer’s in this country. Until then, soccer’s point guards will never be able to kick the ball past the mid-defender’s wickets and into the goal-basket without the hash marks’ incessant reminder that they’re on borrowed territory.
