Brees Lighting Up the Lions

Make that four touchdown passes for Drew Brees at halftime. While Mike Bell has acquitted himself quite well in the first half - 12 carries for 57 yards - Brees has done all of the damage in the red zone. Brees has found Jeremy Shockey twice to bring the Saints to a 28-10 lead over the Lions. Expect a heavy dose of Bell in the second half.

Matthew Stafford has done about as well as can be expected from a rookie playing his professional game. He threw a pick right before the half, but the Lions did move the ball well enough to set up a Kevin Smith touchdown and Jason Hanson field goal earlier in the half. Look for Calvin Johnson to rack up the garbage time yards in the fourth quarter.
