The Indianapolis Colts kicked off the season with a 14- 12 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars did everything they could to stay in the game but an incomplete pass by David Garrard with 1:14 left put an end to their upset hopes.

The combination of Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne was too much for Jacksonville rookie Derek Cox too handle. Manning threw for 301 yards, connecting with Wayne nine times for 162 yards. Manning and Wayne also connected on a 35 yard touchdown pass in the third quarter.
Maurice Jones-Drew had 97 yards on 21 carries and added 26 yards on five receptions for the Jaguars in the loss.
