The Redskins finally get on the board...and it was the punter who scampered in from 8 yards out for the touchdown! After getting stuffed for three straight plays, the Skins lined up for a field goal, only for the holder, Hunter Smith, to pull back the ball at the last second, and run it in untouched. Who would have guessed that the punter would be the Skins’ best fantasy player at halftime?
Redskins Punter Scores on Fake Field Goal
For the few of you playing with punters (yes, there are a few leagues out there), check to see if you get credit for Smiths’ second career touchdown. Adam Vinatieri had a similar play a few years back that many leagues didn’t give him credit for, since kickers only received points for kicks.
As disappointing as it is for Clinton Portis owners that he couldn’t punch it in when they got into the red zone, Smith’s touchdown keeps the Skins close enough that they won’t have to abandon the run in the second half. So at least there’s that consolation.
