Ichiro Is Nothing If Not Consistent

Move on over, Wee Willie Keeler.

Seattle Mariner Ichiro Suzuki broke a tie with Keeler to become the first player in major league history with at least 200 hits in nine straight seasons with a base hit against the Rangers tonight. Ichiro set the mark with, what else, an infield single. In the 2nd inning of the back-end of a double-header, Suzuki beat out a slow roller to shortstop to set the record.

In case you need a little perspective on how impressive the record is, Keelers’ mark stood since 1901.

In the first game of the double-header, Suzuki went 1 for 4 with an RBI double in a 7-2 loss.
