Dallas Stars Take On Colorado as NHL Preseason Action Continues

The Stars have struggled offensively, managing just 15 shots in the game through 50 minutes, and find themselves down two goals late in the game.

The Montreal Canadians withstood a late charge by Florida, who scored two third period goals to pull within one, hanging on for the win.

Nashville, meanwhile, is piling it on against Atlanta. With two more goals in the third period, it’s 5-0 with four minutes remaining.

The Capitals tied the score towards the end of regulation, only to have Tim Kennedy of Buffalo put the Sabres ahead a few minutes later. Jay Beagle then tied the game just seconds later to send the game into overtime with the score tied at 3.

The Capitals wasted no time, scoring the winning goal 49 seconds in with a Brian Pothier wrist shot.

Clarke McArthur and Jason Pominville have scored two late third period goals to give the Buffalo Sabres a 2-1 lead over Washington with six minutes remaining in the game.

The Toronto Maple Leafs goaltenders are solid so far in net, as the Maple Leafs lead Philly 3-0 heading into the 2nd intermission. It’s been a raucous, spirited game so far with plenty of scrums and a couple of fights. Nazem Kadri has been impressive, and this revamped Toronto team has put the pressure on the Flyers.

Elsewhere, two late first period goals by Teemu Lasko and Jason Arnott have put the Predators up 2-0 on Atlants at the 1st intermission.

Only Washington and Buffalo have gone through a period with less that three penalties called.

Offseason free agent addition Scott Gomez tipped in a shot by Jaroslav Spacek to put the Montreal Canadians up 1-0 on Florida headed into the 1st Intermission. It’s a good start for Gomez, who was somewhat a controversial acquisition.

2009 first-round draft pick Nazem Kadri shot a scorching wrister past Philadelphia goaltender Johan Backlund, putting the Leafs up 2-0 late in the first period. I’m sure Brian Burke is up in his suite, fighting a grin as he inwardly acknowledges his continuing hockey genius.

The Alex Ovechkin-less Washington Capitals are leading the Buffalo Sabres 1-0 heading into the first period thanks to a Alexandre Giroux wrist shot.

It’s 1-0 midway through the first period, after Lee Stempniak amazingly found the back of the net. It’s a chippy affair so far between Toronto and Philadelphia, who are showing off their prospects for the crowd in London with not many regulars hitting the ice for either team.
