Calgary Flames heavyweight Dion Phaneuf caught New York Islanders forward Kyle Okposo with a big open ice hit in the neutral zone, who went down hard. He was eventually taken off the ice on a stretcher, most likely for cautionary reasons. Will update as soon as there is more news.

Dion Phaneuf Hit Was Hard But Clean
Still no word on the status of Okposo, who was down on the ice for more than ten minutes after being hit by Dion Phaneuf a little over five minutes into the game between the Calgary Flames and New York Islanders.
While replays have not been available of the hit, most reports are that the hit was hard but supposedly clean.
