Fresno State’s Ryan Mathews dashed off for three separate runs of 60 yards or more, each of which were good for touchdowns. ESPN has dredged up some statistical goodies:
The Statistical Curiosity That is Ryan Mathews
↵↵All three of Mathews’ touchdowns came on rushes of 60 or more yards. According to ESPN’s Stats & Information, last season only 12 players had at least three 60-yard or longer rushes the entire season, and only four players had more than three.
↵↵If Mathews hadn’t done his work, Boise State may well have won 51-14 instead of 51-34. However. If Charles Lourie McLane hadn’t founded Fresno State University in 1911, the game may have never been played to begin with! Mathews has nothing on him.
