In a somewhat less thrilling, but no less important match Chelsea easily toppled Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in London. The match between the crosstown rivals was tight in the first half, but Spurs could not finish to take an early lead despite looking in control and Chelsea showed why they are tops in the league this year.

But Chelsea, who have not lost at home to Spurs since 1990, gradually imposed themselves on the game – and having already gone close through a Frank Lampard header – (Ashley) Cole put them in front on 32 minutes.
The impressive Drogba found space on the right and whipped in a teasing cross that Cole met with a diving header.
Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba followed with second half goals only 5 minutes apart to seal the win for Chelsea, who jumped back ahead of Manchester United in the standings only hours after ManU had taken first place themselves.
Drogba was carted off the field late in the game with a calf injury, but it does not appear to be serious and Chelsea appears confident they can cope if he misses any time.
