Week 2 Fantasy Stumbles, Fumbles and Rumbles
Two games into the 2009 season we are beginning to see some trends develop in terms of fantasy relevant impact. Let’s take a look at a half dozen of yesterday’s games and attempt to decipher the long term fantasy affect.
Cleveland Browns vs. Denver Broncos - WR Braylon Edwards was the lone bright spot for fantasy owners, catching six balls for 92 yards. This is a good sign. Their running game did nothing. The Broncos running game on the other hand looked sharp with rookie Knowshon Moreno getting 17 carries and 97 total yards, and Correll Buckhalter adding 106 yards and a TD. Even fullback Peyton Hillis scored a TD. IDP Notable- LB Elvis Dumervil is a converted defense end, who still qualifies at DL in many fantasy leagues. Sunday he racked up 10 tackles and 4 sacks. Grab him if you can plug him into a DL slot and get LB production. Cause for Concern- The Broncos kept WR Brandon Marshall on the sidelines for much of Sunday’s game. He looked great when he played, but they aren’t playing him much early on. For the second straight game WR Eddie Royal was invisible. This is not good.
