Fights Are the ‘Culmination of a Turf War’
According to the K.C. Star, the series of brawls Tuesday and Wednesdays were nothing new. The two sides have been fighting for years, but it was never done so publicly until this week:
See how hard it is out here for a student-athlete? While the normal college student has to worry about frivolous stuff like paying for tuition and studying, the football/basketball players have to protect their rep. Can’t even imagine how difficult that must be.

One: Members of the Kansas basketball team got into at least two fights beginning with a brawl that started sometime around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, according to KUSports.com. Tyshawn Taylor, a member of the KU basketball team, was involved and dislocated his thumb, an injury that will keep him out for 3-4 weeks. A crowd assembled outside a dorm at 10:30 p.m. in what is presumed to be a related incident, but was dispersed by campus cops. Fights. They happen. No big deal, right?
