You read it here first: Galaxy’s David Beckham may miss this weekend’s MLS match

As the Los Angeles Galaxy travels to Columbus today for this weekend’s marquee matchup with the current Supporters Shield frontrunner, a certain English international midfielder isn’t with them.

LA Galaxy officials are traveling this morning, so I can’t reach anyone who can speak on the matter. But word on the street – and I only walk on very safe streets – is that David Beckham will remain behind in Southern California.

I don’t have many details other than this: the issue is apparently injury-related, not a suspension or anything along those lines. And if it is injury-related, it’s probably nothing too serious. It would make sense that word of any serious injury would already have leaked.

It wouldn’t even shock me to see Beckham arrive tomorrow or even Saturday morning. Or, LA could play it extremely safe and give the league’s highest wage earner the weekend off.

I’m sure details will emerge as the day goes on – so stay tuned.

(Updated ... LA TImes blog now has a little more.)
