Josh Beckett Late Scratch From Tonight’s Start

In news first reported by MLB’s Ian Browne and now confirmed by the Boston Globe, Red Sox’ Josh Beckett will not make his scheduled start tonight against the Blue Jays because of back spasms. (Michael Bowden will be on the hill instead for Boston.)

↵Browne goes on to say that the spasms “are in the upper portion for Beckett, which [Terry Francona] says is ‘Good.’” Too little, too late: all of Red Sox Nation is already breathing into paper bags and trying to convince themselves that Dice-K would be a great No. 2 in the postseason.
