Rex Ryan knows about your Twitter account, Mr. David Clowney, and he is not interested in your appeals for playing time one bit:
Twitter Strikes Again, Gets Jets Player Benched By Rex Ryan
↵↵Clowney posted a remark on Twitter saying he was unhappy with his playing time in the team’s Week 2 win against the Patriots. Ryan said he wouldn’t stand for that.
↵“If I feel a guy is not putting the team first,” Ryan told reporters, “I’ll make that decision to put the guy down.”
↵↵I understand Ryan’s motive here, but the tweet itself really isn’t all that incendiary. Judge for yourself:
↵↵“1 play in the 1st Half, 4 plays in the 2nd half … A bit disappointed about my playing time but very happy and satisfied about the win.”
↵↵Isn’t that what every athlete is supposed to say? Or, at the very least, isn’t that what every athlete is supposed to think? Benching a guy for wanting to help his team more doesn’t seem like the most proportionate response here, does it?
