USC tailback Stafon Johnson was taken to the hospital on September 28th for emergency surgery after dropping a bar on his throat while lifting weights. He underwent a seven-hour procedure, but is expected to make a full recovery and possibly play football again.
Stafon Stable After Surgery, Won’t Play Football This Season
SbB has been on the story all night. Late Monday night, L.A. sports anchor Curt Sandoval reported on Stafon Johnson’s recovery from a weightlifting injury:
That’s certainly great news, though it’s also becoming clear just how bad things could have been and how long the road ahead will be for recovery. For instance, the L.A. Times reports that a source said “surgeons had planned to realign Johnson’s larynx and they were hopeful that he would regain his voice.”
