Bob McKenzie of TSN.ca is reporting that the New York Islanders have put in a claim on Edmonton Oilers forward Rob Schremp. Schremp was a star in juniors and he has become a You Tube sensation because of his amazing shootout skills. Despite his past success Schremp has never made it in the NHL after three years in the AHL. The Islanders appear ready to give Schremp an opportunity.
Islanders Put Claim in on Schremp
The Islanders, by virtue of their last-place finish last season, get first crack at any player on waivers. Even if another team put in a claim on Schremp, the Islanders would get him if they put in a claim.
And sources say the Isles want to give the prolific junior scoring star a chance to play.
