Dave Stubbs from Habs Inside and Out is reporting that Sergei Kostitsyn has asked the Montreal Canadiens to trade him. He is also reporting that Sergei will not report to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL.
Sergei Kostitsyn Asks for Montreal to Trade Him
Through agent, Sergei says he’s not reporting to Hamilton and seeks trade.
This is a story worth watching over the next couple of days. Stubbs is also reporting that Gainey will not trade Sergei unless he reports to Hamilton. He feels there is no market for him and he will need to prove himself in Hamilton to force a trade.
Gainey believes no market for Sergei, wants him in Hamilton.
Kostitisyn has only 17 goals and 50 points in 108 games throughout his two-year NHL career. He has split time between Hamilton and Montreal and is in no position to demand a trade. By making his demand public, he is hurting his chances for another team to pick him up. It took months for Dany Heatley to get traded after his demands went public and he is a 50-goal scorer.
