Pierre Thomas sprained the MCL in his right leg two weeks ago, and now he might not be ready for week 1 against the defenseless Lions.
Pierre Thomas May Miss Week 1
It means a lot, and I really want to play in the opener -- but I don’t want to cause any more damage. I don’t want to take a chance where I just play this game and don’t play out the season. I want to be smart about it.
My main focus is trying to get back for the first game. But if it’s not ready, it’s not ready. I can’t push it.
Thomas’ strong finish last year combined with Reggie Bush’s injury issues, had moved him from “sleeper” to high on fake footballers’ draft boards for a while now. The Saints dynamic offense has everyone mining for any Saint that might touch the ball.
A MCL isn’t something to mess with and could reoccur. Thomas owners better hope he doesn’t try to push it because Reggie Bush and Mike Bell are waiting in the wings. But what they should do is pick up Mike Bell post haste! For one thing, he may still be a free agent and for another, he would be the goalline back and get the most touches on the ground even if, amazingly, Bush isn’t hurt.
