Improved Snead, Defense Keys Rebels Win

The dark-horse Heisman candidate Jevon Snead struggled early, going 8-of-17 for 102 yards and two picks through three quarters, but rebounded to throw for 73 yards and pair of scores in the fourth.

But ESPN’s Chris Low highlights the Rebels’ defense in putting away the Tigers:

[L]ost in what was otherwise a ho-hum performance is the fact that this defense is pretty stout. The Rebels’ defense scored one of the touchdowns when Fon Ingram took an interception back 38 yards for a score right before halftime.

Junior defensive tackle Jerrell Powe also looks like a different player now that he’s 50 pounds lighter. He absolutely blew up the play on fourth down when Memphis went for it on fourth-and-1 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter.
