Ray Rice, Ravens Running Over Pats: Can New England Rally Back?
Ray Rice went 83 yards for this touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. Then the Ravens turned a Terrell Suggs strip of Tom Brady into another TD. Then Rice added another touchdown late in the first quarter. Then a Brady pick turned into a field goal.
When the smoke cleared, the Ravens had a 24-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, and had limited the Pats to just six plays that produced positive yardage. It was ugly, and a terrible start for New England: The Patriots have only trailed by 24 in the postseason three other times, and lost those games 51-10, 31-14, and 45-10.
The Ravens did leave the door cracked with a questionable non-challenge on a punt that went off a Raven but may not have been recovered in bounds by the Patriots. That led to a Julian Edelman touchdown. But, even with the ship somewhat right, there is much sailing through rough seas to do for the dying Patriots dynasty..
