The 27th Africa Cup of Nations soccer tournament is officially underway in Angola and it may be the most important one ever. With the World Cup coming to South Africa in June, the world is watching the continent and how it can handle the logistics of a large-scale tournament.

Which makes the unfortunate events of Friday, when the bus carrying the Togo national team was fired upon, that much more damaging. Two coaches were killed and the team's goalkeeper was hospitalized. Despite wishes by the team to play in honor of them, the country called the team home.

↵As if things didn’t get off to a bad enough start for host nation Angola, now comes their team’s stunning 4-4 split with Mali in their first match of the tournament. Stunning due to the fact that Angola led the match 4-0 after 74 minutes. The tying goal came in the 95th minute. Oof.
