Houston Astros owner Drayton McLane said a “New York investment banking company” has 30 days to negotiate a deal to buy the Astros:
New York Investor May Be Buying Astros
“The only thing that does is we will wait 30 days before we talk with any other group,” McLane said. “We have nothing to lose because we weren’t talking to any other group.
”An investment banking company said, ‘If we can raise the money, would you talk to us about us buying the team?’ and they said, ‘Would you give us 30 days?’ and we said, ‘Sure.’
“We’ve done that before. So they are trying to see if they can raise the money.”
McLane said the 30-day window began Jan. 1.
The two sides have yet to begin talking figures, according to McLane. He went on to say that there is “probably less than a 50-50 chance” of the Astros being sold.
