According to NHL rules, after a play has been reviewed and the puck drops to restart the game, the ruling that was made stands. So it’s a little fishy that when Simon Gagne of the Philadelphia Flyers scored an apparent goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night, FSN Pittsburgh waited until after the ruling on the ice was made to show the one camera angle that clearly showed the puck across the goal line.

↵FSN controlled the only video feed of the game that night. CSN Philly, who covered the game for the Flyers, used their video. The NHL is now investigating the network to see if they purposely withheld the camera angle in question, according to a report on Philly.com. It’s unclear at this time whether or not they are, but the comments made by color commentator Bob Errey in the video above are rather damning.
↵The problem here seems to be that the NHL does not have their own video to rely upon in making these judgment calls. When they are at the whim of individual networks, who knows how often this sort of thing actually happens?
