Landon Donovan links (and a January pep talk!)

January is a time when we should lean into concerted efforts to re-create the best new you and me possible. Because, let’s face it, we could all use some work. Personally, I’m vowing to stop wasting so much time on my collection of masking tape art and my blog devoted to Mr. T. (Remember, it takes a smart guy to play dumb.)

Besides all that, there’s just not enough going on in the soccer world right now. Relatively speaking, anyway. That mean ol’ high pressure system hanging out over the North Pole like a holiday visitor that just won’t leave has dumped record levels of fluffy white over England, pouring icy cold water down our EPL pants. Yikes! Meanwhile, there’s a lull in domestic soccer matters, another reason why January ranks low in my 1-12 ranking of the months.

But let’s not focus on the Woe. In fact, let's kick Woe's ass, and instead raise our gaze to the one big storyline of the here and now, Landon Donovan’s one-man assault on England. Ol’ Steve has done the work for you. Here are the latest links to nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives being penned on Donovan:

A good piece from the Times with somenice layers of perspective

The Guardian’s report from Saturday’s 2-2 draw at the Emirates, including some cool English footy graphics and player ratings

An Everton perspective from a pretty good Toffees blog

And one more blogger jobber, with more nice things to say about No. 9 in the EFC shirt (Donovan, ‘course)

And finally a piece from the Guardian last week, where Landon calls himself out
