While Tennessee only needed six scholarship players to dispatch top-ranked Kansas last week, they could be getting two more back soon. CBS Sport’s Gary Parrish reports:
Tennessee’s Tatum And Goins Pass Drug Tests, Could Be Reinstated
Suspended Tennessee basketball players Cameron Tatum and Melvin Goins passed drug tests administered shortly after their New Year’s Day arrests and could be reinstated within the next two weeks
Tatum and Goins were suspended along with Tyler Smith and Brian Williams after being caught with guns and drugs in a car on December 31st. Smith has subsequently taken responsibility for the guns, while Williams has done so for the drugs, potentially leaving Tatum and Goins free to return to the team given their clean drug tests. Williams will reportedly have a chance to be reinstated later this year.
Tatum and Goins were the fourth and sixth-leading scorers on the team before their suspensions, averaging 8.7 and 6.1 points per game respectively.
